7 Hen Do Booking Mistakes Hosts Always Regret (And How to Avoid Them)

After 600+ hen do bookings across Spain, we've seen every mistake in the book. Here are the seven that hosts regret most — and exactly how to dodge them on your next booking.

Strippergram bookings for hen dos are about 60% of our business — which means we've been there for every kind of mistake hosts make in the planning phase. The good news: most of them are easy to avoid if you know what to look for. Here are the seven we see most often.

Mistake 1: Booking too late

"Same-day booking" is in our marketing because we genuinely fill many of those — but it's not the optimal way to book a hen do. The best performers fill up 2-4 weeks in advance during peak season (May-September). If you've got a specific performer in mind, book 3+ weeks ahead. If you're flexible, 1 week is enough most of the time.

Fix: Lock in performer + deposit as soon as the venue is confirmed.

Mistake 2: Not coordinating the cover story

The surprise reveal is the magic of a hen do stripogram. But it only works if one person in the group knows the plan. If everyone is surprised, the chaos in the first 30 seconds will spoil the reveal. The performer needs an "anchor" in the room — someone who can manage the bride's positioning and the timing.

Fix: The host should brief one trusted bridesmaid in advance. Two people max.

Mistake 3: Choosing the wrong venue

Hotel suites with single-room layouts are tough. The performer needs a "back room" to change into costume and a "stage" zone with clear sightlines. If your venue is one open-plan space, the surprise is harder. Villas, multi-room apartments and bigger suites work much better.

Fix: When you book the venue, picture where the performer will change and where the show will happen. If you can't picture it, the show won't land.

Mistake 4: Drinking too much before the performer arrives

Genuinely the most common one. The hen do is in full swing by 9pm, the stripogram is booked for 10pm, by 9:55pm half the group can barely stand. Result: nobody enjoys the show, the photos are awful, and the bride is too gone to remember.

Fix: Plan the show as the opening act of the night, not the closer. 8:30-9:30pm is the sweet spot. After the show, then the heavy drinking starts.

Mistake 5: Not budgeting for tips

Tips aren't expected, but if the show is great (and our performers do bring it), the group usually wants to tip. If nobody has cash on them, the moment passes awkwardly. The performer doesn't mind — but the group feels guilty.

Fix: The host should pull €50-€100 cash in advance "in case." If you tip, hand it to the performer directly at the end. 100% goes to them.

Mistake 6: Going with the cheapest quote

If somebody is quoting you €80 for a show, there's a reason. Usually it's: untrained "performer" who has never done a paid show, no insurance, no agency oversight, no recourse if they don't show up. The market rate for a professional show in Spain in 2026 starts at €150. Below that, you're rolling dice.

Fix: Read reviews on neutral platforms. Ask for the performer's name and Instagram in advance. Pay a fair market rate.

Mistake 7: Forgetting to photograph the reveal

The bride's face when she realises what's happening — that's the photo every group regrets not getting. It happens in 2-3 seconds and most groups miss it because everyone is watching, nobody is recording.

Fix: Assign one person (not the bride, not the bridesmaid running the cover story) to be the dedicated photographer for the first 60 seconds. Phone out, video mode, focused on the bride's face. After 60 seconds switch to group shots.

Bonus: the post-show etiquette

When the show is over: thank the performer, hand over the balance + tip, group photo if everyone is up for it, performer leaves. Don't ask for "one more dance" — pros price by show, not by encore. Don't follow them out — they deserve their privacy after a show. Tag the photos with permission only.
